This giveaway is now closed!

Last month Raise Healthy Eaters turned one. I wanted to do something special for you, my readers, to thank you for your support. But it took a little time to make happen. Or at least that’s my excuse for the belated gift giving.

In the survey I conducted last fall many of you said “time” was your biggest barrier to preparing balanced meals. I make no secret that I LOVE the slow cooker for this very reason. It’s the ultimate meal-making time saver.

According to Consumer Search, All Clad is one of the top-rated slow cookers. It’s made of stainless steel and it’s programmable meaning you can instruct it when to stop cooking and switch to warm. It retails for $199.99.

So I wrote the folks at All Clad and asked them to donate one. Add they said “yes!”

But I thought that with summer coming many of you might stop using the slow cooker. This would be a mistake because there’s so much more to the crock pot than stews and soups.

I got in touch with Stephanie O’ Dea from A Year of Slow Cooking. Her bestselling book, Make It Fast, Cook It Slow: The Big Book of Everyday Slow Cooking, is a great example of all that is possible with the slow cooker. She agreed to send the winner a copy of her book.

cookitslow

So the winner of this anniversary giveaway will get a top of the line slow cooker and an awesome cookbook written by a busy mom. If I could enter this giveaway I would. But that would be unethical (right??).

Okay. Here’s what you have to do to enter:

1) Leave a comment saying why you like the slow cooker or why you want one.

2) For another entry, sign up for Raise Healthy Eaters’ email updates or RSS Feed. If you already subscribe, tell at least one friend about Raise Healthy Eaters. Leave another comment saying what you did.

3) To increase your chances further, become a facebook fan. If you are already a fan, suggest some of your friends become fans. Leave another comment saying what you did.

4) And for a bonus entry, tweet, blog or share this post on facebook. Again, let me know you did it by leaving another comment.

This giveaway will end next Friday the 23rd at midnight. The winner will be picked at random.org. Good luck!

I love slow cookers! They are so easy! Everything that goes in them amazingly comes out perfect and wonderful. It also gives so much more time to play with your kids :-)

Cathy Cunningham April 18, 2010 at 8:38 pm

OH! how I would love that crockpot and cookbook! I mostly use my old crockpot to keep things warm in at potlucks…I cook most things elsewhere and then shovel ‘em in and plug it in!…Looks nice and homey, keeps things warm, but other than my “Old Settler’s Beans” and Taco Soup, that’s pretty much the way things go. Since I’ve never won anything online this would be really exciting! Just discovered your blog; enjoying it alot. Thanks for the chance!

AmandaPanda April 18, 2010 at 8:51 pm

I work full time and I go to school nights – the only way I have a hot, home cooked meal is when I have my crock pot going. It’s a cheapy 20 dollar one and I’m dying for an upgrade – mine’s on the way out.

AmandaPanda April 18, 2010 at 8:51 pm

I just became a fan on Facebook! Yay! another chance to win that fantastic looking crockpot and cookbook. I need it badly! :)

Cathy Cunningham April 18, 2010 at 8:59 pm

AND I just added your website to my status and told everyone about your blog! Slowcooker come to Mama!

Esme April 18, 2010 at 9:06 pm

I, as I am sure many stay at home moms will appreciate a slow cooker that will allow me to feed my family a healthy good meal with out having to be hours in the kitchen. May the winning favor be with me : )

Stephanie April 18, 2010 at 9:32 pm

With two little ones, using the slow cooker has been very helpful. Once they have gone to bed, I can start the following day’s meal. After working all day, I can easily heat up or finish the preparation of dinner. Using a slow cooker takes away the stress of preparing a meal for my family.

tuskany April 18, 2010 at 9:33 pm

I would love a slow cooker because I’m a terrible cook and I think this would be an easy way for me to make really fabulous meals!

Teresa April 18, 2010 at 10:08 pm

I would love a new crock pot and the lovely cookbook. My crock pot is the answer for dinner on the nights I am on call at the hospital and have to work late.

Em D. April 18, 2010 at 10:13 pm

I love slowcookers because the flavors all combine in wonderful ways and it makes the house smell wonderful.

I would love to win this because the crockpot I use cooks too fast! Every recipe I’ve ever used has cooked in half the time in my slow cooker (yes, I have it on low). I’m hoping a new slowcooker will remedy that and I’d love to use it in conjunction with this book!

Jessica April 19, 2010 at 6:41 am

I love slowcookers and Stephanie’s recipes! Our slowcooker is kind of old and we’d love a new state-of-the-art one!!

Lisa G. April 19, 2010 at 7:48 am

I have an older one but is sometimes turns off abruptly during the first hour. This one looks really nice! I love crockpots, just need to use it more often :)

Megan April 19, 2010 at 8:19 am

I would love to win a new slow cooker! I currently have one but it’s small and not very good. I would go out an buy one but were on a limited budget right now and it will have to wait.

I love my slow cooker because I can start a meal early in the morning while I still have energy and them in the evening all the work is done. Not to mention that it also means only having one dish to clean up and avoiding the drive thru at dinner time.

I hope I win.

Megan April 19, 2010 at 8:19 am

I just signed up for your e-mail updates. Love your site. I found it through $5 dinners.

Karen Milone April 19, 2010 at 8:29 am

I would love to own a programmable crockpot and the awesome cookbook!

CarolG April 19, 2010 at 8:37 am

I use my crockpot because there are certain things we make that just taste better when cooked slowly in a slow cooker!

Cher April 19, 2010 at 8:52 am

I would love to win the crockpot and cookbook. My crockpot took a dive off the clothes dryer (my husband thought that was a good place to leave it while it was drying clothes) and died a messy death.

Megan April 19, 2010 at 8:57 am

I use my slow cooker for healthy meals that are ready when I get home from work!

Bethany Rogers April 19, 2010 at 9:21 am

I would like a slow cooker because I am a busy mom. I would love to be able to walk in the door, sit down and eat dinner. As it is right now, I walk in the door, open the fridge to find nothing, open the pantry to find nothing then order a pizza.

Kim in Minnesota April 19, 2010 at 9:28 am

Love, love, love the slow cooker – such a feeling of accomplishment when you make dinner before leaving for work! Not to mention how good the house smells when you arrive home to ready-made dinner. This cooker looks awesome and I am a fan of the cookbook as well.

Anna E. April 19, 2010 at 9:47 am

I signed up for the email updates. Thanks again for a great giveaway!

Jill April 19, 2010 at 10:29 am

As my kids get older and we have more baseball games and such in the late afternoon, I’m finding that crockpot recipes are the magic answer to a healthy dinner! Unfortunately, I have some old cheap crockpot from forever ago! I’d LOVE to have a new one! Thanks for the giveaway!

Kate April 19, 2010 at 10:32 am

The crockpot has always seemed like a great idea — but the few times I’ve tried I haven’t had much luck. I’m inspired by the posts I’ve seen though and want to give it another go!

JessicaO April 19, 2010 at 10:43 am

I really want this crockpot because I only have one crockpot and I need two! Also, it would match my appliances in my kitchen, it’s fancy and hi-tech and who doesn’t love that, and I could make all of the recipes in the cookbook with my new shiny crockpot.

JessicaO April 19, 2010 at 10:44 am

I signed up for email updates – thanks!

Julia April 19, 2010 at 11:38 am

I rarely have time to spend hours and hours cooking a meal, so I LOVE the multi-tasking I can do by throwing healthy ingredients in the pot and then going about my other errands. I’m in desperate need for an upgrade from my sad 1980’s-era crockpot.

Crystal C. April 19, 2010 at 12:16 pm

I have a large family and to be able to make healthy meals for them is a gift for me! I would love this crockpot so that I could use it for my families on the go lifestyle!!

Tricia April 19, 2010 at 12:23 pm

I love slow cookers, because there’s nothing better than coming home from work to have dinner ready and waiting for you!

Carolyn April 19, 2010 at 12:31 pm

Slow cookers are the best. Put everything in; turn it on; go away; come back 4 hours later and dinner is ready. Who could ask for anything more?

Dawn April 19, 2010 at 12:43 pm

I adore crockpot cooking, but I’ve had my crockpot forever, and would sure love a new one that didn’t look quite so “dated” — and programmable would be heavenly!!

Shannon April 19, 2010 at 1:32 pm

I really love Steph’s blog. I could really use a new crock pot. Mine has been used to much it is looking really bad, and getting old and cranky. lol. Use it often to feed my family of 6. It has saved us from fast food many many times.

Angela April 19, 2010 at 2:03 pm

I am a busy working mother of 2 with a 3rd on the way and in the last year have started making more and more meals in the crock pot or “slow cooker” I cook in mine at least once a week. I am in the market for a new crock pot as I find my old cheapy one keeps overcooking my dishes. I would also love to own the cookbook as I am always looking for new recipes! Just subscribed to your feed .

Terri April 19, 2010 at 2:47 pm

I love crockpots! They make everything, and make you look like a star at the same time. It is amazing how much time they save you.

I love the slow cooker!! It’s how I started cooking and gained the confidence to try new things!!

Jennifer April 19, 2010 at 3:34 pm

Yeah for slow cookers!! With two little ones at home, I can use all the help I can get when it comes to dinner…and we use it for breakfast, too. Nothing like waking up to a breakfast casserole that all done!

Katie M. April 19, 2010 at 4:55 pm

I want a big beautiful crockpot because mine is 1.5 quarts. What on earth do you do with a 1.5 quart crockpot?

Amy April 19, 2010 at 7:49 pm

wow, could that help feed my family of 7
