Post image for Giveaway: All Clad Slow Cooker (and Bonus Cookbook)

This giveaway is now closed!

Last month Raise Healthy Eaters turned one. I wanted to do something special for you, my readers, to thank you for your support. But it took a little time to make happen. Or at least that’s my excuse for the belated gift giving.

In the survey I conducted last fall many of you said “time” was your biggest barrier to preparing balanced meals. I make no secret that I LOVE the slow cooker for this very reason. It’s the ultimate meal-making time saver.

According to Consumer Search, All Clad is one of the top-rated slow cookers. It’s made of stainless steel and it’s programmable meaning you can instruct it when to stop cooking and switch to warm. It retails for $199.99.

So I wrote the folks at All Clad and asked them to donate one. Add they said “yes!”

But I thought that with summer coming many of you might stop using the slow cooker. This would be a mistake because there’s so much more to the crock pot than stews and soups.

I got in touch with Stephanie O’ Dea from A Year of Slow Cooking. Her bestselling book, Make It Fast, Cook It Slow: The Big Book of Everyday Slow Cooking, is a great example of all that is possible with the slow cooker. She agreed to send the winner a copy of her book.

cookitslow

So the winner of this anniversary giveaway will get a top of the line slow cooker and an awesome cookbook written by a busy mom. If I could enter this giveaway I would. But that would be unethical (right??).

Okay. Here’s what you have to do to enter:

1) Leave a comment saying why you like the slow cooker or why you want one.

2) For another entry, sign up for Raise Healthy Eaters’ email updates or RSS Feed. If you already subscribe, tell at least one friend about Raise Healthy Eaters. Leave another comment saying what you did.

3) To increase your chances further, become a facebook fan. If you are already a fan, suggest some of your friends become fans. Leave another comment saying what you did.

4) And for a bonus entry, tweet, blog or share this post on facebook. Again, let me know you did it by leaving another comment.

This giveaway will end next Friday the 23rd at midnight. The winner will be picked at random.org. Good luck!

I really need a time-saving option for meals at home. We cook A LOT from scratch and our meal prep times often drag on for over a full hour. A slowcooker would be just the fix for that. Also, I desperately need pointers on how to actually use a slowcooker, as my few crockpot experiences have been utter and complete failures.

This crock pot looks awesome & the book too! Just in time for summer the best time (well anytime is good right?) to use a crock pot because who wants to heat up the house when its sweltering outside?! Thanks for this give away.

7 months ago I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. For several months we went back to eating the absolute BASICS – we’re talking a meat, two veggies, and some milk. EEEEK! Then I discovered the glorious nature of the slowcooker. Now that I’m finally getting my cooking legs under me and becoming more confident in my ability to cook gluten free, I am becoming increasingly dependent on the crock pot! My husband is active duty military and puts in his full days there and I am working on a M.S. thesis full time. It’s soooo hard to eat healthy when we’re both so busy, but because of diet and budget constraints, we don’t have the option of just running down the street to pick something up! The crockpot has saved me so much stress and time, but ours is in major need of help! It would be such a blessing to have one large enough to REALLY cook! Thanks for the giveaway and for all the hard work you put in to this blog! :)

I am really in need of a crockpot and I would love it if it was this one. I recently moved and my crockpot got left behind by mistake. I really need one!

Liz Hall April 19, 2010 at 10:48 pm

I love my slow cooker because I can prep food the night before and have it cook all night or start it in the morning and know that it will be ready that night. I could always use another slow cooker. Thanks for putting together this give away.

Sarah April 20, 2010 at 1:24 am

The slowcooker sounds like the perfect way to get a meal on the table for my husband and I before 9pm at night! We always end up doing bath, breastfeed and bedtime from 7-8pm each night with our baby so dinner always gets started after our son is in bed. With the slowcooker we could have our dinner ready to go just as our boy is being tucked up in bed. Now that would be nice :)

I have slow cookers on the brain! This one looks fantastic. Thanks for the giveaway!

Dana April 20, 2010 at 6:43 am

I’d love to win a slow cooker because mine is a hand me down from my GRANDMOTHER. Yes, it’s old, still works but I’d love one that I could set a timer on the cooker itself and when the timer goes off it goes directly to the warm setting. Then I’d be able to cook more in the cooker during the work week and not just on weekends. Yes, this would be a great addition to my family!

I would just love that awesome, smooth, cool looking crock-pot! I actually have two crockpots, but not one that has the programing capabilities, which would be very handy :)

Thank you!

Debbie April 20, 2010 at 11:07 am

I’d love one of these new crockpots. I have an old one that gets too hot and therefore I can’t leave it while I’m at work and only use when I’m home which kinda defeats the purpose :)

Brian April 20, 2010 at 11:57 am

I try to slow cook every Sunday. Makes the house smell good all day.

Ruth Douglas April 20, 2010 at 1:12 pm

I would LOVE a crockpot that worked! When we got married, I got three and returned EVERYONE of them! SO SAD when I think about it now, as I am dying to start using it on a regular basis!

Thanks for this opportunity!

Amy L April 20, 2010 at 1:21 pm

I want this slow cooker because it’s programmable, which would be wonderful! My daughter asked for this cookbook for Christmas, and after I got it for her, I wanted one, too!

Staci Langford April 20, 2010 at 2:25 pm

PICK ME! PICK ME! Do I ever need a time-saver!

Donna April 20, 2010 at 3:38 pm

I would love a new crock pot!

dana April 20, 2010 at 3:38 pm

I would love this crock pot. I use mine all the time but it is getting pretty old. It is so nice to use a slow cooker, i can “make” dinner earlier in the day and not have to worry about it while i run around after kids and get my chores done! thanks!

Maria April 20, 2010 at 5:10 pm

I’d love an extra crockpot. My plan is to start using a crockpot to cook at least 4 times a week…. an extra crockpot would REALLY help!

Suman von Wolzogen April 20, 2010 at 8:05 pm

I just received a small slowcooker from my sister at Christmas. I have become addicted! I make 3-4 meals a week in it! It is my new best friend! (Seriously!) I would be so blessed to win this contest!

My slow cooker is really old and doesn’t have any kind of programming options. It would be soooo nice to upgrade. I use my slow cooker ALL the time. It’s a lifesaver with a young child to be able to throw something in during nap time and have it cook for me! I would love a copy of Stephanie O’Dea’s cookbook too. I use recipes from her blog all the time too.
